WP15 BSH demo meeting (09 September 2014)
The BSH trade lanes China-Zaragoza, and Zaragoza-Turkey presented a change in the ocean carrier for BSH, where MAERSK is now replaced by MSC. In case the transport providers were not able to participate or provide information for the demo, PORTIC, TmZ, and BSH would have to provide information about the transportation.
Seven types of risks were presented and all partners agreed that they were representative of the supply chain concerns.
Partners selected three Use Cases to link with the CORE ecosystem developments: 1) Transparent Track/Tracing 2) Delay alert system and re-scheduling of freight, and 3) Information provision for/from customs. Also, these are use cases to start with the pilot test, and to the extent information is gathered and becomes more complex, then for the full scale implementation may involve upgrading the capabilities of the use cases, as well as adding use cases that may emerge on the project.
WP17 P&G demo meeting (09 September 2014)
In a first session, P&G presented a generic notion of the demo, with interest from the horizontal WP representatives to support it. A second session had a restricted attendance and consisted in the update of the technological developments and demo plan.
For P&G, the project will provide Real-time Lean Agile Resilient Green and Optimized supply chain solutions; Maersk will benefit from getting information on opportunities related to world trade; SUNWELL will have the opportunity to test a new, greener solution that guaranty product integrity; DHL will get information regarding the success criteria of the solutions for road transport.
This demo will structure in 4 phases: 1) Testing the ICECUBE design functionality in a controlled environment (started immediately) 2) Testing the ICECUBE in the supply chain setting under a controlled environment (expected Q1 2015) 3) Include the operational logistics around it (end of 2015) 4) Include the business case analysis. All stages will overlap, however activities in the earlier stages will diminish while the demo progresses.
The link with the horizontal activities need to be explored further. Yet, there is an indication that DHL’s monitoring device may be interfaced with the CORE ecosystem.
WP17 DHL-Airbus demo (10 September 2014)
DHL presented the Military Air on Ground (AoG) aircraft components logistics operations. Transportation includes imports, exports and European transport. The main concern is the integration of security controls so that they don’t impact negatively on management, customs and cross-docking KPIs. The demo uses embedded devices to monitor and gather information regarding the product conditions and flows from pick up in the USA to delivery in Spain.
For DHL the expected benefit is to strengthen the security controls end to end without impacting service levels (KPIs) committed with Airbus.
In order to define a Demo plan, it is necessary to explore the supply chain requirements in terms of risks end to end, specify use cases for the use of secure and expedited AoG shipments, set the embedded devices to monitor and gather information related to shipment conditions and flows end to end. The demo will interface DHL’s embedded devices with the CORE ecosystem and solutions, e.g. track & trace, alert systems, disruptions and criminal awareness and alerts, and risk management, etc.
DHL also expressed the interest in looking at different vehicle information and sensors integrating a single reporting system.
ZLC will work with eBOS in exploring the integration of security and risk assessment end to end with eBOS solutions integrated to the CORE ecosystem such that supports secure and expedited shipments.
