This year’s conference focus was on “Intelligent logistics solutions – a catalyst for digital economy”. Intelligent logistics solutions such as ITS, electronic freight, intelligent cargo, etc. are the main catalysts for innovative Transport Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Intelligent logistics solutions are mainly determined by increased use of inter-connected information and communication technology (ICT) including data sharing, knowledge transfer, cooperation and collaboration.

The CORE project hosted a session on “Intelligent Solutions for Efficient and Secure Global Supply Chains”, organized by CORE partner Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL). The session highlighted some examples which demonstrate how a powerful and innovative ecosystem implementation, integrating interoperability, security, resilience and real-time optimization can produce cost effective, fast and robust solutions that will guarantee the efficient and secure transit of goods through the worldwide Global Supply Chain system. Prof. Yao-Hua Tan, TU Delft, gave a presentation on IBM's Supply Chain Visibility Platform, which instantly displays and summarizes actionable supply chain information from all electronic trading partners and communities through a single dashboard. Wout Hofman, TNO, presented two CORE demonstrators dealing with air- and sea freight to the Netherlands and explained how the underlying IT infrastructure is implemented. Furthermore, Rainer Müller, ISL, introduced the scenario-based simulation environment to the audience which ISL is currently developing in the scope of the CORE project.
