The Transport Research Arena (TRA) is an exceptional event for researchers, industry representatives and policy-makers to meet and discuss, identifying the innovative solutions that can drive a better future transport system for Europe. In April 2016, TRA took place in Warsaw, Poland. The scope of the conference covered all modes of surface transport: road, rail and waterborne, as well as co-modality, applied to both passenger and freight, in urban, inter-urban and long distance settings. The event especially emphasized research and implementation challenges that address the needs of modern European society and create partnerships to promote innovation in transport.

During the event’s exhibition, the CORE project was presented by CORE partner Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL) on a dedicated stand. CORE was subject to many interesting discussions with various TRA visitors. Special focus was laid on the presentation of the CORE Simulation Environment, a simulation tool developed by ISL which can be used to simulate supply chain scenarios under various conditions. At present, the tool is used to simulate temperature conditions and respective effects on maritime container transports from Europe to South Africa.
